It was sparkle time in Southampton and time to officially welcome the holiday season as people gathered on Thursday, November 21st at the Southampton Town Hall to take in the lighting of the Christmas tree and join in the festivities.

Mayor Luke Charbonneau, who self-admits he is tree-lighting challenged, called on two volunteers in the crowd to help ‘throw the switch’ that would light up the tree and, fortunately, two little girls stepped forward to help the Mayor.
Inside the Southampton Art Gallery, the festivities continued as members of the Chantry Singers got everyone into the holiday spirit with their renditions of popular holiday music
While outside, the duo ‘Nuclear Vibe’ had toes tapping and people singing along as they performed traditional tunes such as the popular Feliz Navidad by José Feliciano.
Once the lighting and musical festivities were over, it was on to Sparkles Night where Southampton merchants were open late for Christmas shoppers.
