Tour of Gardens returns to Saugeen Shores in support of hospice care

After several years hiatus, the Saugeen Shores Tour of Gardens returned in July, 2025.

Hosted by the Southport Horticultural Society, the tour saw seven local homeowners open their gardens to the public.

The gardens featured a wide range of designs from pollinator gardens to the more manicured and organic.  This was the group’s first time organizing a community fundraiser, and it proved to be a remarkable success.

The return to the tour was to support hospice care for Huron Shores Hospice in Tiverton that serves Saugeen Shores, Kincardine and the immediate surrounding communities.

At a recent cheque presentation at Gateway Gardens, one of the hosting tour gardens and one that produces organic lavender products, the Horticultural Society presented its proceeds of $5,178 in support of hospice.

Tanya Leppington, Vice-chair Board of Directors, said “We realize the energy and enthusiasm that it takes to put on an event like this and we can’t be more grateful.  At our Hospice, we are now looking at adding a third room of hospice care and adding a PSW soon.”

“We are thrilled to be able to help this incredible cause,” said Horticultural Society President Rosemarie Eger.  “This is the first time we have fundraised for this.  We could never have done it without our wonderful homeowners who opened their gardens, our exceptional volunteers and, of course, our donors.”
