Saugeen Shores Men’s Shed has hit the ground running, quickly establishing itself as a vibrant and active community group.
The Shed has been in existence for just five weeks, and already a variety of programming is being identified and initiated to engage members.
On Friday March 13th, twelve participants involved with Woodworking from the Men’s Shed and the Propeller Club attended a thorough safety briefing at the Boathouse, led by Bud Halpin (the former shop teacher at Saugeen District Secondary School). The session was well conducted and well received, ensuring that everyone is starting off with safety as the top priority. Sincere thanks are extended to Bud for his excellent work in guiding the group in the right direction. Woodworking happens at the Propeller Club Boathouse Mondays 8:30 am-12 noon.

Evan Jones is coordinating a Model Building program, which will be available at the Chantry Centre on Thursday afternoons 1:00 p.m. to about 4:00 p.m.
Every Thursday morning, the Men’s Shed meets at the Chantry Centre for social time and conversation from 10:00 a.m. until noon. These weekly meetings are a highlight for many, providing an opportunity to enjoy coffee, plan upcoming programs, and spend time together. Activities discussed and planned include woodworking, model building, exercise programs, community involvement and guest speakers. The Saugeen Shores Men’s Shed is active and growing.
Note that the coffee break is a gender-specific event, while all other programs are open to everyone.
