With Mother Nature bringing her best weather, Jubilee Park in Southampton was hopping in time for Easter just around the corner.
Hundreds of youngsters took part in the Easter egg hunt, games, candy give-aways and a chance to hold live bunnies. on Saturday, April 12th.

Organizer Connie Barker said she was thrilled to see the response. “This is the first year for this event and we cannot believe the turn-out. We are so thankful to businesses who also came on board to help, including Giant Tiger, Southampton Foodland, Independent Grocer, Southampton BIA, the recently opened Southampton Sweets candy shop and, of course, the Chantry Island Cham-bettes. We also have to thank the volunteers, the Scouts and the Port Elgin Lions Club for their help.”
When it comes to Easter, it’s all about the Easter bunny and, thanks to the Rabbit house Rescue, youngsters had the chance to hold a live baby bunny. It was also an opportunity for the sanctuary to raise funds for electric fencing following a black bear attack that resulted in extensive destruction and loss of life.

“This was our first Easter event of this kind,” added Barker, “and we hope to make it an annual Easter fun time. It’s also a FUNdraiser for the Event Resource Centre that helps out community events by providing various supplies.”
