New Port Elgin retail development moving forward

Saugeen Shores has been recognized as one of the fastest growing communities in southwest Ontario and the growth continues.

A new retail development in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores) is underway with construction of service infrastructure completed and foundation installations about to begin.

Construction begins

According to a developer partner, several lease agreements have been confirmed for the Summerside Commercial property located at Devonshire Rd. and Hwy. 21 in front of the Holiday Inn Express hotel in Port Elgin.

The retail development will see two integrated developments. At the actual corner of Devonshire Rd. and Hwy. 21, there will be a Shell gas station, a Nicholby’s convenience store, a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) and a car wash.

The second part of the development on the northern side of the property will feature a number of food outlets including:

Milestone Restaurants – a Canadian chain with some 25 locations on Ontario,

Rudy Burger – specializing in griddled cheeseburgers, beef-tallow fries, and poutine, and it is widely celebrated for its scratch-made comfort foodSince its launch.

Two more food establishments are in the offering but are yet to be announced.

According to site location owners, it is expected that construction will begin in the Fall (2026) with anticipated opening in early 2027.
