The Southampton BIA asked the students at G.C. Huston public School for artwork showing their impressions of Southampton. Eight pieces were selected by the BIA Board and made into banners that were installed on High Street’s core block this summer.

“It was really difficult choosing”, said BIA Streetscape Chair, Kendall Johnston-Sawyer, “we had over 40 submissions and they were all fantastic!”

Each winner received a certificate of congratulations and a $100 cash honorarium.

Some of the other submissions were also laminated and hung in the Gateway to the Arts lane at 173 High Street for the summer to create a seasonal gallery.

In addition, each winning student received $100 from the BIA for his/her creativity.  The posters were displayed leading up to the 2nd Annual Southampton Arts Festival held on the August 1st long weekend.
