Despite the weather, the 9th annual Art Van Santen (AVS) Memorial Golf Tournament went ahead, just without the golf, raising $7,156.Ā The funds are being divided equally between the Heart & Stroke , Saugeen Memorial Hospital and Canadian Cancer Society (Head and Neck Cancer specifically).On August 12th, the tournament presented its portion of the funds raised to the Saugeen Shores Hospital Foundation.
The Hospital Foundation expressed appreciation for the donations over the years. “Congratulations to the whole crew, all of your sponsors, guests and family. It’s no small feat to put on an event like yours year after year. Together, you have harnessed so much kindness, generosity and fun and supported multiple charities while doing so. We are grateful for all of your hard work and for continuing to choose to invest your funds raised in Healthcare in our community.”
Mother Nature brought rain but that didn’t stop the tournament.Ā The AVS facebook says it all …
“Needless to say, we are incredibly disappointed that Mother Nature didn’t cooperate this year. The nine amazing years we’ve hosted the AVS Memorial Golf Tournament, this is only the second time the weather has gotten the best of us. While it certainly wasn’t the day we had envisioned, we are so grateful for the incredible support we received.
Thank you to everyone who supported the tournament this year – whether you came for dinner, sent a donation, signed up to golf, volunteered, sponsored the event, or simply reached out with kind words. Your support means more than you know.
A huge thank you goes out to all of our amazing sponsors, Brad, Riley and the entire Saugeen Golf Club staff, and Evan, Sally and all of the food and beverage staff for everything you did to help make the day run as smoothly as possible despite the circumstances. For those who were registered to golf this year, don’t forget that Saugeen Golf Club has generously provided you with an 18-hole golf voucher. Simply give your name to the pro shop when you’d like to use it. The voucher does not expire but cannot be used for a tournament. As a thank you for your understanding, you’ll also receive a discount on your registration for next year’s tournament being held on July 24, 2027.
Finally, we’re already looking ahead to next year… our 10th Annual AVS Memorial Golf Tournament! It will also be the last year we’ll host the tournament on this large of a scale, so we want to make it the biggest and best one yet. We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate ten incredible years of remembering Artie, supporting important causes, and bringing this amazing community together.
