Agencies partner to provide Advanced Live-Fire Training Opportunity in Saugeen Shores

The Saugeen Shore Fire Department in partnership with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office (OFM) has been conducting Live Fire Training, and Origin and Cause training in Saugeen Shores.

The Saugeen Shores Fire Department acquired a donated structure, which was scheduled for demolition, from a resident within Saugeen Shores to use for these training sessions. The structure allowed scenarios for live-fire training over the past week, which included suppressing sets of fires that resembled real life scenarios.

Phil Eagleson, Saugeen Shores Fire Chief said “It has been a challenging year to schedule training. This has been a local opportunity for our firefighters to learn from experts from across the province.  We are proud to host and work with the OFM staff”.

“This training provides the OFM investigators with an opportunity to train new staff by recreating real fire scenes and circumstances to determine the cause and origin.  The training also gives our firefighters the opportunity to practice their firefighting skills in a very real scenario.”

The training was an opportunity for OFM to hold Field Investigation Training for their newly hired Field Investigators, as well as the Saugeen Shores Fire Department to participate in a live fire training with experts from across the province.
