More than 100 people attended the recent exhibition opening of art created by artist Yükselle Hassan at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.
Hassan studied at the Academy of Fine Arts at the University of Mimar Sinan in Istanbul, Türkye before moving to Toronto where she began as a graphic designer and then as Art Director for Scholastic Canada Ltd.
Today, she lives in Southampton (Saugeen Shores) with her husband and works full-time as an artist. Her art is sold internationally, has been displayed at many galleries throughout Ontario and several of her pieces are part of the Bruce County collection. She is also a permanent member of the Southampton Arts Centre where she had a solo exhibition in 2014.
Hassan’s work is “… an exploration of Realism in Fantasy, a genre she coined herself. The style and colour of her work is her signature. She has a strong passion for pouring nature uniquely onto canvas and organic shapes, and flowing patterns created by nature’s magic, inspire her.”

Hassan’s paintings “… depict the moods and colours of the Great Lakes, the beautiful Sweet Water Sea-Huron and Georgian Bay, as well as the romance of the lakes district of Muskoka region.”
The exhibition runs through to April 30th in the Museum’s upper gallery.
