Aquatic and Wellness Centre name announced as Fundraising Enters Final Wave

With excitement and deep gratitude, the Town of Saugeen Shores is proud to announce that the official name of the new recreation facility will be the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre.

This name honours long-time community partners Brad and Kathy Pryde, who launched fundraising efforts for the facility with a generous donation of $1,000,000 in October 2023.

“We are honoured to support a facility that will promote health, wellness, and community connection for generations to come,” said Brad and Kathy Pryde. “Saugeen Shores has always been a place where active lifestyles and quality of life are valued, and we’re proud to help bring this vision to life.”

The Prydes are well known for their enduring commitment to health and wellness in Saugeen Shores. From establishing and supporting the PRANCE (Pegasus Riding Association Nurturing Challenged Equestrians) therapeutic equestrian program at their farm to making significant contributions to the woodland trail system, their consistent dedication and efforts have played an important role in enhancing the community for all.

“The Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre truly reflects the spirit of Saugeen Shores: community, active living, and generosity,” said Mayor Luke Charbonneau. “Thanks to the Prydes and all our donors, we are building a facility that will serve residents and inspire wellness for years to come.”

Since the initial donation from the Prydes, the fundraising team for the new centre has been advancing both a Quiet Ask and Public Fundraising campaign. To date, the campaigns have raised $2,612,095 of the $3 million goal.

As the facility nears completion, the Town has entered final wave of fundraising: The Drive for Five. This final push aims to secure the remaining $500,000 needed to meet fundraising goals and support this legacy project.

Naming opportunities within the Pryde Aquatic and Wellness Centre, as well as other recognition options, are currently available for businesses eager to support this facility. By participating in this final wave of fundraising, organizations have the chance to make a lasting impact on the community while gaining meaningful visibility within the Centre for years to come.

The public also has an opportunity to leave a lasting impression through the Commemorative Brick Campaign. These personalized bricks will be displayed at the facility, offering a unique way to honour someone special, celebrate a special occasion or give a meaningful gift.
