BPSA celebrating 61 years of Conservation

The Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association (BPSA) invites you and your family to join us on February 20th to celebrate the Canadian heritage pursuits of hunting and fishing. This event returns after a three-year pause.

The 250 member club will host a “Family Day” between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at its hatchery and clubhouse west of Wiarton.

BPSA Open House agenda:

–  fish Hatchery tours featuring thousands of rainbow and brown trout fingerlings
–  weather permitting, outdoors archery training
–  view our “safety first” firing range and firearms display
–  learn about our “Boot Scrubber” Invasive Species Awareness and tree planting projects
–  toast your free hot dog over an open fire as you enjoy complimentary refreshments

The Family Day open house is a valuable learning experience where, at the Kids Fishing events, young people are taught the joys of outdoors recreation. At the same time, they are encouraged to carry on the good conservation work started by BPSA pioneers who began this community based effort more than 60 years ago.

In the past, those who attended the celebration have often become members of this respected volunteer-based conservation organization.

About the BRUCE PENINSULA SPORTSMEN’S ASSOCIATION:  BPSA was established in 1962 to preserve and protect fish and wildlife. Member volunteers, male and female, young and old, have stocked over 4-million sports fish in Grey-Bruce waters. The BPSA hatchery, with an incubation system and improved aeration system with spring-fed water, can handle 200,000 eggs per year. Rainbow and brown trout are raised in the facility. Tourism officials credit the club’s conservation efforts with pumping millions of dollars into our regional economy.

BPSA is located at 611 North Acres Road, Wiarton just off the Oliphant Road 2 km. West of highway 6.
