Breakers Swim Team 2020 Awards Banquet held virtually

On December 13th, the Breakers Swim Team honoured its swimmers during their 2019-2020 Awards Banquet. Due to Covid-19 this years’ banquet was held virtually with swimmers and their parents in attendance.

Awards such as ‘Most Sportsmanlike’, ‘Most Dedicated’ and ‘Top Age Group’ were presented to the excited White, Blue and Gold group swimmers who were eagerly cheering for their teammates.

A very happy Aurora Jacobi took the screen that evening earning the title of ‘Swimmer of the Year’ for her hard work in and out of the pool, Aurora broke many club records, qualified for Regional and Provincial meets, works well with her coaching staff and the younger swimmers and has proven herself to be the perfect ambassador and competitor of the sport.

Jayson Horseman took Stan Clements Memorial Award that evening. This special award, honouring past Breakers Coach Stan Clements, is given to one swimmer in at any level who continually commits to training at their best ability and have shown continuous results from their training.

Other Awards presented to the swimmers are as follows:

Swim a Thon – Top Fundraiser – Aurora Jacobi
Swim a Thon – 2nd Fundraiser – Jayson Horseman
Swim a Thon – 3rd Fundraiser – Irwin Brothers

Most Sportsmanlike is presented to the swimmers who have shown themselves to be an ambassador for the team, who cheers and encourages other team swimmer and are a positive presence during practice and competition.

White Group – Noelle Gallagher
Blue Group – Brooklyn Banks
Gold Group – Braydon Reid

Most Dedicated is awarded to the swimmers who have above average or highest attendance at practices, attends and competes at most meets available to their level and works well with coaches.

White Group – Edward Stark
Blue Group – Luna Abbott
Gold Group – Jayson Horseman

Most Improved Award goes to the swimmers who have shown steady improvement is stroke technique, has had significant improvement in times and works well with coaches.

White – Kaitlyn Meleskie
Blue – Sara Etedali-Zadeh
Gold – Michelle Wang

Top Age Group is presented to the swimmers who have shown improved results over the years in the majority of events swum during competition. These swimmers may have qualified for Regionals and/or other qualifying standard meets, has regular attendance at practice and works well and listens to coaches.

White – Daniele Smith
Blue – Kenzie Bourassa
Gold – Matthew Bull
