Breakers Swim Team make a splash at the McDonald’s Team Challenge Swim Meet

The Port Elgin Breakers Swim Team took part in the 2019 McDonald’s Team Challenge Swim Meet hosted by the Owen Sound Aquatic Club at the Julie McArthur Centre, November 17th and 18th.

The team had 17 swimmers competing and finished with an impressive Top 8 finish in 38 different events. All 17 swimmers finished with at least 2 Personal Best (PB) times and 10 brought home a Top 8 finish, the team finished with a 5th place overall score.

In the 8 and under age group Daniele Smith finished with 7 PB times and a 8th place finish in the 12 and Under Girls 100m Backstroke.

In the 9 and 10 year old age group, Tarrace Reinwald finished with 2 PB.

In the 11 and 12 year old Girls, Luna Abbott, Emma Aldridge, Brooklyn Banks and Kenzie Bourassa all finished the event with 6 PB respectively. Kenzie Bourassa also placed 5th in the 12U Girls 200m Individual Medley, as well as 8th in the 12U Girls 50m Butterfly.

Sharvanni Shankar finished with an impressive 4 PB. Cassie Richardson, and Kaitlyn Meleskie both finished the weekend with 2 PB each.

In the 11 and 12 year old Boys, Owen Richardson received 5 PB as well as 6th place in the 12U Boys 200m Individual Medley, and 50m Freestyle.

In the 13 and 14 year old male age group, Matthew Bull brought home 5 PB time including a 1st place finish in the 13 and over 100m Backstroke. He also received 2nd place finished in the 50m Freestyle, 200m Breaststroke, 200m Freestyle, and 50 m Backstroke. Matthew placed 3rd in 100m Freestyle, and 200m Individual Medley, and a 4th place finish in the 100m Butterfly.

In the 15 and Over female age group Aurora Jacobi finished with 7 PB times and placed 5th in 100m Backstroke, 6th in 200m Freestyle, 7th in the 100m Breaststroke, and 8th in the 50m Freestyle.

Hannah Kent received 4 PB, 4th in the 200m Backstroke, and 8th place finishes in the 100m Backstroke, 50 m Backstroke, and 200m Individual Medley.

Michelle Wang also received 4 PB, as well as 3rd in 50m Freestyle, 4th in 100m Freestyle, 5th in 100m Butterfly, 6th place in both the 50m Breaststroke, and 50 m Butterfly. She finished strong with a 7th place finish in the 50m Backstroke.

In the 15 and Over year old male age group Zachary McEwen had 3 PB, 3rd in the 50m Freestyle, 4th in the 200m Backstroke, 5th in both the 100m Backstroke, and 200m Freestyle, 6th in the 50m Backstroke, and an 8th place finish in the 50m Freestyle.

Brady Phillips had a strong weekend with 4 PB, 6th in the 50 m Breaststroke, and 8th in 50m Breaststroke.

Braydon Reid finished the weekend with 2 PB, 6th in both the 100m Breaststroke, and 200m Freestyle, as well as 7th place in the 50m Freestyle.

The Breakers will be competing at the Trojan Cup on November 29th to December 1st in Barrie as well as Hello Winter December 13th to 15th in Markham.
