Then, during The Afternoon Show hosted by Cory Laycock and special guest host Kyra Michelle Brough, there was another generous $10,000 donation to close out the day this time from the Roote family – Randy and Brenda, owners of Roote’s Gas Bar, and their son Kyle, owner of Top Shelf Health and Wellness. “Zoomer 92.3FM is truly humbled by the response from our community. I couldn’t be more proud to live in such a wonderful and supportive place that is willing to step up when it matters most to help our fellow friends and neighbours receive quality cancer care at home,” said Cory Laycock, Zoomer 92.3 Program Director and Host of The Afternoon Show.
The $60,000 raised will support the purchase of a Hoyer Lift to safely and comfortably move patients to beds and chairs, support the continued education of 30 registered nurses to receive chemotherapy treatment training, purchase 8 new vital signs machines used by every patient, and other critical equipment.
Cancer touches so many lives, and having access to treatment and support locally makes an incredible difference. It means fewer long drives, more time surrounded by loved ones, and compassionate care delivered by a skilled team who truly understands this community.
“This is what community looks like,” expressed Amy McKinnon, Brightshores Foundation CEO. “Every gift, every story, and every moment on air reflected the compassion and strength of Grey Bruce. The funds raised will directly make a lasting impact for patients and their families. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Zoomer 92.3, its incredible hosts, those who shared their stories and everyone who tuned in and gave so generously.”
