Bruce County approves Integrity Commissioner appointment

At its October 1st meeting, Bruce County Council approved the appointment of Harold G. Elston as Integrity Commissioner for the Corporation of the County of Bruce for a two-year term commencing on January 1, 2021, with the option to renew for an additional two-year term.

The Integrity Commissioner reports to Council and is responsible for performing the functions assigned by the municipality in an independent manner.

Elston is a municipal lawyer, integrity commissioner, closed meeting investigator and municipal ombudsman, practicing from offices in Collingwood and Bracebridge.

As a lawyer for more than 30 years, he provides legal services to several municipalities in Grey County, Simcoe County, the District of Muskoka and, now in Bruce County. Elston was first appointed as an integrity commissioner in 2011 and serves as the commissioner for over 37 municipalities in Ontario.
