Bruce Power marks Employee Recognition Day with Habitat for Humanity donation

Bruce Power is marked Employee Recognition Day on March 4th with a $25,000 donation to Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce to honour the contributions of the company’s employees to their communities.

“I am proud of our employees and what we’re accomplishing here at Bruce Power and where we live,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power’s President and CEO. “Our employees are great people and they do great things; like providing reliable and carbon-free electricity to Ontarians and life-saving medical isotopes to the global medical community, while strengthening our communities as we work together to Power Ontario Forward.”

Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce is an organization close to the heart of Bruce Power, its employees, and supplier partners, and many volunteer their time on local housing projects, Rencheck added.

“Our Board of Directors and staff are extremely grateful for the support of Bruce Power and their many employees who have volunteered their time at our builds to help us provide affordable and energy-efficient homes for families in need,” said Greg Fryer, Executive Director, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce. “We look forward to hosting many more employees this year at our build in Saugeen First Nation.”

In 2022, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce will begin building seven houses in partnership with Saugeen First Nation on their traditional territory, for member families, Fryer added. This follows the completion of four homes built last year, while there is a plan to start a home repair service for the First Nation that will employ members of the community, while providing skills training and experience for participants.
