Bruce Power is proud to have been named one of Southwestern Ontario’s Top Employers as Canada’s Top 100 shines a light on our region for the first time.
In selecting Bruce Power as one of the top employers in the first edition of its Southwestern Ontario recognition, Mediacorp Canada Inc. listed several of the company’s strengths in supporting its employees.
Bruce Power’s strong support and funding for ongoing training and employee development, from apprenticeships to mentoring and leadership development, as well as the company’s assistance in planning for retirement, strong benefits and a formal Healthy Workplace Strategy were key factors for the award.
“Bruce Power has a talented and diverse workforce and we’re continually working to foster and develop a safe, healthy and productive environment for everyone who works here,” said Karen Smith, Vice-President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “This is the first time that our region has been recognized by Canada’s Top 100 and we’re thrilled to be one of the inaugural recipients.”
The competition is open to any employer having its head office in the region between Lake Huron/Georgian Bay and Lake Erie, excluding Greater Toronto and Niagara — the same area that roughly comprises the ‘519’ area code.
Employers were evaluated on eight selection criteria, including: Workplace; Work Atmosphere and Social; Health, Financial and Family Benefits; Vacation and Time Off; Employee Communications; Performance Management; Training & Skills Development; and Community Involvement.
“We are honoured to be able finally to bring readers stories about the best employers in Southwestern Ontario,” said Anthony Meehan, publisher of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers project. “The region tells a compelling story through its history, its people, and the wide variety of industries that make up Southwestern Ontario’s employment landscape.”
