Bruce Power to provide five-year funding to Westover Treatment Centre

Bruce Power’s commitment to health and wellness programs in communities throughout Bruce, Grey and Huron counties will include support of the Westover Treatment Centre.

The company announced today that it will provide $25,000 annually over the next five years to be used for Westover’s alcohol and drug addiction recovery support programs in Tiverton and Goderich, beginning in 2019 and running through 2023.

(L) Chris Mercanti, Manager of Community and Indigenous Relations Bruce Power, presented a cheque to Westover Treatment Centre Executive Director Ron Elliott & Mike McGilvery, Director of Recovery Support and Alumni Relations.

Westover’s Recovery Support program is available to people who have completed the Substance Dependence, Co-Dependence, and/or Stage 2 Recover and Relapse Prevention Programs. Participation in these programs is highly recommended for continued support, self-care, and maintaining sobriety. Meetings are held weekly over a 26-week period in 11 southwestern Ontario communities, including Goderich and Tiverton.

“Bruce Power continues to invest heavily in health and wellness because we believe strongly that the people in our rural communities deserve to have access to the best care,” said James Scongack Executive Vice-President, Corporate Affairs and Operational Services. “For more than 30 years, Westover Treatment Centre has been a leader in providing high-quality care to clients, their families and friends who have been affected by addiction. We’re grateful to Westover for its Recovery Support programs in Tiverton and Goderich.”

Founded in 1986, Westover is an addiction treatment centre located in Thamesville, ON, and is fully accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation. The centre is a leader in abstinence-focused residential treatment.

“Westover Treatment Centre is grateful to Bruce Power for enabling us to continue to offer support to those who have been affected by substance-use disorder in Bruce and Huron counties,” said Mike McGilvery, Director of Recovery Support and Alumni Relations.
