As Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau has been known to reiterate, “…we are the fastest growing community in southwest Ontario”, and it would appear from the recent building report submitted to Council on April 28th, he may be right.
Although 2024 did not meet the record breaking year of 2023 when 403 permits were issued for 621 residential units for a total of $315,271,137, it was still a year of growth with 320 permits issued for a total of $144,247,780.
From the Activity Report submitted to Council, it appears that more people are also building Additional Residential Units (ARUs). In 2024, permits were issued for 19 ARUs when compared with none in 2023.
The monthly building numbers are also posted on the Town’s Building Reports site.
