Chef Zach Keeshig returns to Bruce County Museum with live demonstrations of traditional Indigenous dishes

Bruce County Museum

On August 23rd, Chef Zach Keeshig (Naagan Dining) returns to the Bruce County Museum once again with a live demonstration on how to field-dress a Lake Trout and free samples of Indigenized Sourdough bread and Cedar tea.

Zach will also be running a pop-up bakery where he will be selling Indigenized Sourdough bread. Debit/credit will be accepted.

Parks Canada will also be on site with a presentation on turtles in the Museum’s Bruce Gallery. During their visit, you’ll learn:

  • Lots of fun facts about turtle biology (they breathe out of their bums!)
  • How the turtle’s back (carapace/shell) functions as a calendar and the different meanings it holds for the Saugeen Ojibway Nation (SON) peoples.
  • Eco-passages and how to safely help turtles cross the road

PLUS: a chance for some hands-on fun after the presentation with a variety of activity stations!

Elder Shirley John

In addition, Indigenous Elder Shirley John will  share her traditional Elder teachings.
