Christmas Brass and All that Jazz

The Southampton Concert Band will be performing our annual Christmas concert on December 9th, Sunday afternoon, at 3 p.m. in the Port Elgin United Church.

The band will be presenting a wide variety of Christmas song favourites no matter your taste or preference. All the way from a beautiful arrangement of Angels from the Realms of Glory to a swingin’ version of the Nutcracker and of course our favourite holiday tune, Santa Wants a Tuba for Christmas! And…

Don’t let the title of our concert fool you, the woodwind players will be well represented in our concert because we have the pleasure of hosting as our guest artists, “The Georgian Bay Woodwind Quintet”. These five excellent musicians perform regularly with the Georgian Bay Symphony and we are pleased and honoured that they have agreed to join us for our concert.

We also have an added incentive for the families looking for an event for the Christmas season. We will be performing the classic Christmas selection for the children in all of us entitled, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and we have as our guest narrator Ms. Natalie Robitaille. Natalie is principal organizer for the Bruce County Playhouse in Southampton and is producing the play “Shirley Valentine” at the Roxy Theatre in Owen Sound from December 12-14.

We are very excited to present our show to one and all, young and old. Entry to the event is by donation and all proceeds will go to the Southampton Concert Band Music Library.
