Despite Mother Nature’s eliminating five of the Cruiser’s nights in Southampton (Saugeen Shores) with her downpours, the remaining eight shows raised more than $10,000 for local health care.
Southampton Cruisers’ night celebrated 32 years this summer and is said to be the longest consecutively running car show in Ontario. It is held every Thursday summer evening in Southampton and draws hundreds of people to the downtown core.
Organizer, Gary Brown (a.k.a. Downtown Gary Brown) said that the support of the community is amazing. “This year, the donations by the community and visitors were simply incredible. 50/50 winners were taking home over $1,000 and the support for the hospital was stupendous!”
The four-hour event held each Thursday has raised $334,331 to date for local health care. “Everyone knows the value of our local hospital and how important it is to keep our health care close to home,” says Brown. “It’s thanks to all the car owners and visitors that we have been able to sustain the show and do our part to give back to the community and our hospital. Now, the planning begins for next year.”

“The generosity of this community never ceases to amaze me,” said Tracy Murray, Executive Director of Saugeen Hospital Foundation. “Imagine, in only eight nights of four hours each, Cruisers have raised more than $10,000 for our local hospital. It’s wonderful.”
