Dorothy (DOT) O’Dell – June 25, 2021

Dorothy (Dot) Evelyn O’Dell (nee Honeywell) passed away peacefully in her sleep at Saugeen Memorial Hospital at the young age of 93 years.

She was the wife of the late James (Jim) O’Dell and Mother of Cheryl and her husband Larry Koepke of Southampton and Mardi and her husband Robert Hoover of Ingersoll.  Proud grandmother of Sarah (Scott) Awde, Michael (Hélène Neising) Koepke, Robyn (Matt Chapple) Vaughan and Erika (Phil) Mahy and great grandmother to Mason and Preston Awde, and the new baby Koepke set to arrive in October.  Godmother to Anne Edwards.  Dot is also survived by an incredible number of friends, who cannot be named for fear of missing somebody.

Dot had many interests not limited to quilting, spinning, sewing, hospital auxiliary and gardening.  Dot and Jim travelled extensively including numerous trips to The Netherlands where they were welcomed as part of the liberation of The Netherlands celebrations.  They loved fishing in northern Ontario, picking blueberries and camping or time at “The Cabin”.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Hampton Court staff and Saugeen Memorial Hospital who took great care of her.

Everyone who remembers her is asked to celebrate Dot’s life in their own way.  Raising a glass of their favourite drink in her memory would be quite appropriate.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you do something nice for somebody else unexpectedly, and without explanation.

“We love you, mom, a bushel and a peck. A bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck.”

A Graveside Service will be held at the Southampton Cemetery on Friday July 2, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
