“Gobsmacked” is the best word to describe my reaction this morning (Mar. 12) when I learned that Earl’s Endowment Fund at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital has reached $23,500!
To show my appreciation to every one of you who has pledged to be active, and to those who have already dug into their pockets to donate, I have added a couple of activities to my day on March 20th. To mark my 70th trip around the sun, I have added a 6:00 a.m. swim (70 lengths of my local pool) and a run (70 minutes) at 2:00 p.m.
So, please join me on March 20th to celebrate Earl and your own health, and to help make life better for patients at Saugeen Memorial Hospital. Every donation to the Earl Farrell Endowment Fund counts. https://smhfoundation.ca/earlfarrell
Many thanks to Brett Martin and his staff at Martin’s Bike Shop in Southampton, who have supported me from the start, from teaching me how to use Zwift last fall to keeping my trusty triathlon bike, Goldie, tuned up. Saturday, March 20th, Brett will have Zwift set up at his shop, where his staff will take turns throughout the morning riding for Earl’s Endowment Fund. Feel free to drop into the store (235 High Street, Southampton) to cheer them on!
Also, thanks to Michael Hundt, Aquatics Supervisor at the Saugeen Shores Pool, for encouraging me to get back into swimming after a couple of years away from the pool, and for organizing the logistics of my early morning swim on March 20th.
Please email me at farrell@bmts.com if you are interested in a socially distanced run on March 20th and I will send the details. Also, note the info on DISCORD and MUSIC below.
Looking forward to celebrating Earl on March 20th. It will be the FIRST DAY OF SPRING!
Thanks everyone,
Geordie

MUSIC: Earl’s Country Tunes on Spotify (free)
I have started a playlist on Spotify. You can find it by searching “EARL’S COUNTRY TUNES.” It is set at “collaborative,” so please feel free to add tunes to the playlist. You do not have to have a paid Spotify account to play this list.
