electHERnow to run virtual series to support women running for office

electHER Now, a grassroots initiative dedicated to encouraging and supporting more women to run for municipal office through networking, education, and practical campaign guidance, will host its April Online Campaign School, an interactive virtual program designed to support women considering a run for municipal office in 2026.

The four-session series features topic-focused training videos, 12 current and former elected women delivering short “Power Talks,” and small-group breakout sessions where participants can ask questions, exchange ideas, and build connections.

Each Power Talk offers practical insights from women who have served in office, providing a candid look at campaigning, community leadership, and public service. Participants will then join facilitated breakout groups to explore topics in greater depth and connect with peers.

“Local government shapes the communities where we live, work, and raise our families, yet women remain underrepresented around municipal council tables,” said Laura Wood, Co-Founder of electHER Now. “Our Online Campaign School makes running for office more approachable by sharing real experiences and creating a supportive space for learning, questions, and connection.”

Classes will be held on Tuesdays, April 7, 14, 21 and 28, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. EST. The program is open to all, with Pay What You Can series tickets available at $50, $25, or $0. Registration is available at electhernow.ca/events.

The registration deadline is April 15. Past class content will be available for those unable to attend the first two sessions.

Women who are interested in running for municipal office and others who are curious about what a successful campaign involves are encouraged to attend.

Municipal elections across Ontario will take place in October, 2026. electHER Now’s programs aim to ensure more women have access to the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to run.
