Election 2026: Incumbent Deputy Mayor Diane Huber

Incumbent Deputy-mayor Diane Huber has a long history of serving on Council having held the positions of Southampton Ward Councillor, Vice-deputy Mayor and her current position of Deputy Mayor.

“With over two decades of service, I have acquired considerable experience, in addition to an important perspective when it comes to corporate and community history, which are vital to the success of a future Council in terms of meeting changes that I anticipate will occur in the town’s future.”

“I am very proud that our family, the Hubers, have had four generations of serving on Council.  That tradition is very important to me,” she said. “and is one that I want to continue.”

“I want the future of our community to include respect for the past, an interesting consideration for the present and an understanding that there may be the need to change slightly, or perhaps a lot, to ensure that we are a vibrant and safe place.”

Huber pointed out that she takes her “job very seriously” since being elected almost two decades ago.   She added that she has been consistent in the investments made in core infrastructure as sewers, water and roads matter in the security of the community.

“I have also been consistent in encouraging investments in public spaces and places that are good for the community.”

She is a retired university administrator, and is about to build her first home on a vacant lot that she has held for several years and paid taxes on.  “I share the concerns over taxes and the level of them.”

Huber has also held the position of Chair of the Saugeen Shores Police Services Board and as a member of the Municipal Heritage Committee.

“My platform is simple.  I will show up for Council meetings prepared to participate thoughtfully and thoroughly.”
