Election 2026: When did local election tactics change?

Apparently, this 2026 Municipal Election has stooped to tactics that were previously known and used by our neighbours to the south.

Nasty tactics that include ‘hacking’ facebook pages, denigrating meeting moderators, using bullying tactics, disinformation and others.

We always thought we, as Canadians, were better than that … so, what’s happened?  When did these kinds of tactics come to the fore?

Running for election is a pinnacle for most of those wanting to help their community.  It is not, for most, an ‘axe to grind’. Unfortunately, there will always be those who are on the other side of the fence, wanting to further their own special cause.

There are those who truly believe that they want to see change.  However, change for its own sake is not always the best choice and a deep reflection should be considered before the choice is made.

As we come down to the end of the 2026 Election, consider BUT vote for your choice:

  • is your choice community minded as opposed to a single cause
  • is your choice involved as a community volunteer
  • is your choice an ethical and moral person
  • is your choice supportive of supporting community growth
  • is your choice a person you would stand behind with pride as they carry out their duties
  • is your choice a person who has the ability, experience and leadership for the future

These are only a few questions that every voter has to consider but … it’s important to consider them.  Whatever you decide, the key is … exercise your democratic right and VOTE!

Look around the world .. the turmoil and the instability … in our elections in Canada, we still have the right to make our voices heard.  Make sure your voice is heard – even in a municipality election …  freedom starts at the grassroots.
