Fail to stop leads to Criminal Charges

One individual is facing charges after the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for travelling greater than the posted 80km/hr speed limit.

On September 14, 2024, at 9:12 a.m., the Grey Bruce OPP were conducting traffic enforcement utilizing the LIDAR on Highway 6 at Mar in South Bruce Peninsula. The officer observed a motorcycle travelling at a high rate of speed and locked it in at 133 km/hr  in an 80 km/hr zone. The officer activated their emergency lights, and the motorcycle took off at a high rate of speed. Further north there was a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at which time the driver was stopped, identified and arrested.

A 34-year-old from Guelph was charged with:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on October 3, 2024.

The accused’s licence was suspended for 30 days, and the motorcycle was impounded for 14 days.
