First Annual PRANCE Golf Tournament – “Horse Power on the Greens”

On Friday, October 4, PRANCE  held its very first charity golf tournament to raise money for its team of therapy horses. The event was held at The Club at Westlinks in Port Elgin and featured a 12-hole game of golf, a harvest dinner and silent auction.

It was a highly successful day on the greens with over sixty golfers and support from both corporate and hole sponsors from Saugeen Shores and Kincardine. All of the food comprising the delicious fall dinner was locally sourced and donated along with the incredible silent auction items.

Golf Committee chair, Lori Kohl, said “I am just so humbled by the generosity of this community and their willingness to step up. We are very grateful.

A big thank you to each and every business and individual who helped.”

The highlight for everyone was undoubtedly a visit from a special horse named Mickey who posed for pictures and snuggles with the players!

PRANCE Executive Director Ann Marie Johnston also expressed her appreciation for the community and said that “The tournament raised over $10,000. This makes it the biggest fundraiser of the year for PRANCE. There is no question that this was an incredible event and we look forward to hosting it again next year!”

PRANCE at Miramichi Farms is an independent registered charity that has operated in Saugeen Shores for over 30 years and relies on community support to carry out its mandate to support individuals with special needs through the power of horses.
