First Barks, Brains and Brews FUNdraiser exceeds expectations

The first annual Barks, Brains and Brews FUNdraiser was a rousing success according to co-organizer, Karin Friis.

The event was held at 3 Sheets Brewery to raise funds for the Abby Bolton Memorial Off-leash Dog Park in Port Elgin for the care, improvement and long-term upkeep of the park.

“Thanks to the generosity of those who attended, donated, sponsored and volunteered, and Southampton Pet Hospital that matched the fundraising effort, almost $3,000 was raised,” said Friis.

Among the sponsors were Jeff Carver, Brewery owner, who funded the food for the event and provided the venue.  Other sponsors included:

  • FirstMate Pet Foods
  • Westlinks Golf
  • Port Elgin Home Hardware
  • Mill Creek Chocolates

“We would also like to say a very special shout-out to the amazing volunteers, Ruth Kavanagh and Steve Dunk, and Sydney of 3 Sheets, for her wonderful organizing support and behind-the-scenes help,” said Friis.
