Free family FunFest day a hit in Southampton

It was a free, fun-filled, family day when Bruce Power brought their FunFest to the Coliseum in Southampton on Saturday, July 5th (2025).

(R) John Peevers, Bruce Power Director of Community and Media Relations stopped by the 97.9theBruce radio booth to chat with DJ ‘Bruffer’

“It seems as though everyone is having a great time,” said Bruce Power’s Director of Community and Media Relations, John Peevers. “This is our first time for this event in Southampton and I’m sure it won’t be the last. It’s our way of celebrating summer in our communities.”

Outside was the popular touch-a-truck where youngsters could clamour aboard a fire engine, become a junior firefighter or sit in the driver’s seat of a Bruce Power truck and operate the air horn.

Strolling behind the Coliseum, it was time for food.  Burke’s Catering brought in 1,000 lbs. of french fries cooked on site, along with the perfect hot-weather treat, sno-cones.

Inside the Coliseum, there was popcorn for everyone, a magician who worked his magic and face-painting.

The Annex (curling rink) was also a popular area where youngsters could learn how electricity works, be fascinated by the Bruce Power robot and explore the bouncy Fun House.
