As spring approaches, it is time for individuals to prepare and file their 2022 income tax. For some people, particularly those with limited resources, filing income tax can be an overwhelming task. To help support people in need, Bruce County’s Human Services department is highlighting that organizations and volunteers across the region are once again hosting free tax clinics as part of the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP).
It is very important for individuals and families to complete their taxes every year because it is required to qualify for many federal, provincial, and municipal programs and services. Filing income tax will ensure that people have access to the benefits and credits they are entitled to receive, such as the Canada Child Benefit.
The CVITP is offered free of charge to everyone who meets the eligibility criteria. This program includes doing taxes for current and previous years. To be eligible, individuals need to have a modest income and a simple tax situation. See if you are eligible.
