The Lamont Sports Park Illuminating Dreams Fundraising Campaign continues to attract the generosity of the local business community. Today, the campaign announced that four companies have hit lead-off home runs by each donating $10,000 to the growing fund for the new ball diamonds.

“The support from Saugeen Shores businesses has been nothing short of phenomenal,” said Campaign Co-Chair Rob Stanley. “These four companies all stepped up to the plate without really having to be asked. It shows how our community is generous in spirit and that its people really care about each other.”

Jocelyn Robbins, owner of The Cooperators, is happy to be on board. “I’m a huge baseball fan, so it was an easy decision. It’s a great opportunity to be associated with one of the best outdoor facilities in the area.”
Lake Range Service Centre is just down the road from the park, and they have been watching the project progress. “It’s exciting!” says Lake Range Manager Amy Walton. “We love knowing our donation will help with the build’s next phase.”

Independent Grocers’ owners Eric and Cassandra Vanderwerf are new to the area, but they knew they wanted to be involved right away. “We barely had to think about it”, said Eric. “We’ve quickly learned how tight-knit this community is, and we wanted to be part of that.”

On the other hand, RE/MAX’s Debbie Duplantis grew up here and decided to contribute with her son and business partner, Hayden. “We saw the growth in our business, and the amount of people moving to town, and we knew the community’s recreational facilities had to grow as well”, said Duplantis. “That’s why we are happy to contribute to the success of the park.”

Phase 2 of the park development will include two youth baseball fields, and an accessible playground. This will add to the four baseball diamonds built in Phase 1.
On Saturday June 4th, the public is invited for their first viewing of the park, to celebrate the completion of Phase 1 and to help launch the public fundraising campaign.
