In an early Christmas surprise on Tuesday, December 2nd, students of the G. C. Huston Public School band were excited to receive new instruments from the Southampton Concert Band.
The Concert Band purchased two new trombones along with several mallets for percussion. “The mallets are extremely expensive,” said music Director John Wills. As they are a specialty item, the two larger ones are $100 each with the six pair of smaller ones at $36 per pair.
Music teacher, Kim Lake, said that, “We so appreciate this donation. We currently have three trombone players and now we can five!”
“It’s our way of passing along music to young people,” said Wills. “The Concert Band has had a good year and so we want to share that with these young students who will be the musicians of the future.”
