Westinghouse’s Mark Kirton stated that their company is happy to be a Kids Community sponsor again this year for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron event, knowing its contributions “alleviate barriers” to cycling for children in the Saugeen First Nation and Saugeen communities.
All three companies are returning sponsors of the Gran Fondo Lake Huron, presented by Bruce Power & Suppliers, a fundraising cycling event for the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. This year, the kids’ community sponsors were able to provide 20 new bikes for youth through the Port Elgin Salvation Army Food Bank and the Saugeen First Nation Youth Centre.
Seif Hassan was on hand to represent Shawflex who is proud returning sponsor for Lake Huron Gran Fondo and the initiative to provide bikes for local youth through the Saugeen and Port Elgin Salvation Army food banks. “It has been amazing to see the growth of the event every year and the growth of its impact. We’re honoured to contribute to such a meaningful event that fosters community well-being and supports healthcare initiatives.”
This summer marks the 6th live running of the epic cycling event in Saugeen Shores which through sponsor support and rider fundraising has raised nearly $1.4 million for local and regional healthcare needs; including items such as the CT scanner, ventilators, and mental health. The kids community bike initiative was added to last year’s event as an away to give back to the community. This year’s sponsor contribution means that 40 youth between last year and this year will have received a new bike and complimentary registration for the kids ride taking place on the Sunday of Gran Fondo Weekend (Aug 17/18)
“CUSW is proud to support youth participation in the Gran Fondo Lake Huron. Building jobs, families and communities is what we do at CUSW.” Stated Hank Bakker
Registration is open for this year’s ride and includes an event t-shirt, medal and after ride BBQ as well as a complimentary beer courtesy of Three Sheets Brewing.
