It’s time to stuff scarecrows for local Food Banks

Saugeen Shores SCARECROWS ‘Get Stuffed’ began on Friday, October 20th with more than 68 participants throughout Southampton and Port Elgin.

The event, hosted by the Chantry Island Cham-bettes, encourages everyone to take in as many locations as possible and, where possible, to drop off non-perishable food items, as the event is in support of local Food Banks. All food items will be collected and divided equally between the Salvation Army Foodk Bank, Living Hope Food Basket, Saugeen First Nation Food Bank and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul.

In addition, Chamb-bettes are out and about at various retail outlets to accept cash donations until October 31st and, with each donation, a tour map will be provided.  Also, Rona Hardware in Southampton and Southampton Foodland will be accepting donations at check-outs added on to purchases.

The Cham-bettes have also designated November 1st as Donation Day when all residents and business owners can drop by the Southampton Boathouse (beside the Coliseum) from 8AM to 8PM with a donation of cash, non-perishable food item, cheque or gift cards.
