With profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Jeannie O’Reilly (wife of the late Ron O’Reilly) of Southampton on Oct 27th at the Southampton Care Centre after a courageous battle with dementia.
Jeannie was born in Hamilton February 8, 1931 to Beryl and Roderick Allan. Loving Sister of Karen and the late Joan and Roderick. Special Aunt to Laurie English. Loving mother of Teresa, David and his spouse Germán, Andrea and her spouse Terry, Jennifer and her spouse Dean.
Grandmother to Jesse, Clem, Casey, Lee and Jennifer. Great Grandmother to Bella, Emily, Josie and Drake. Loving grandmother to many furry creatures .
Jeannie will be fondly remembered for her youthful spirit, love of South Street Beach, the great outdoors, reading, intrepid travel, and love of animals. For many years she volunteered for suicide prevention, McMaster Medical Centre and Community Living. We have so many cherished memories of gatherings on Blackwood Crescent and Perkins Blvd.
Jeannie was ahead of her time when it came to her belief in social justice, gender and race equality . These values are truly her legacy. She will be dearly missed by many.
Our sincere thanks to the kind and compassionate staff at the Care Centre and to our many friends who were so thoughtful and supportive during this difficult time.
In memory of Jeannie, donations to the Grey Bruce Animal Shelter or the Alzheimer’s Society of Grey Bruce would be greatly appreciated.
