Lake Huron Rod & Gun in Underwood a legacy that is closing after 44 years

                                                       Owner, Brad Thomas

One of the longest serving businesses in Bruce County has decided to close its doors.

“It’s a perfect storm,” says Lake Huron Rod & Gun owner, Brad Thomas.  “COVID-19 has resulted in a major loss in sales, the government’s changes to gun laws have made a difference and my own health has created the perfect time to shut down.”

On June 26th, 1976, Lake Huron Rod & Gun owner, father Brian Thomas opened the doors in Underwood that became a major supply outlet for anglers and hunters through Grey-Bruce and beyond.

Son, Brad Thomas, carried on the family business but has decided to end the family legacy.  “We are selling off our stock.  I have a major knee problem and also want to spend more time with my family … so the time has come.”
