Learn more about the new Wellness & Treatment Centre

Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and Grey Bruce Health Services is hosting a public information evening, regarding the new Mental Health & Recovery Centre, on August 2nd.

Grey Bruce Health Services is currently renovating Bayview School in Owen Sound with an anticipated opening this Fall.

“This facility will be the first of its kind in Canada,” says Foundation Executive Director, Tracy Murray.  “It will serve residents across Bruce and Grey region.

The new wellness centre is being designed to help the most vulnerable people get off the street and provide a safe space while they get medical treatment and therapy to get back on their feet. Most of these individuals have co-existing alcohol and drug issues and mental health challenges, compounded by unemployment and homelessness. Hospitals are not the best setting for this type of care, and that’s why we are opening a new, purpose-built wellness and treatment facility.

Everyone is invited to the Information event at the Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) in Port Elgin (adjacent to the PLEX) to learn more about the new centre.

Make a mental health donation to the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation from June 19th to August 7th and the Co-operators will donate up to $50,000 in matching funds.

Funds raised will go to the new mental health and wellness facility project.
