Letter to the Editor: Clean-up on Concession 10 collects major litter

To the Editor:

In preparation for Earth Day and Saugeen Shores Spring Week Clean campaign, volunteers were out on a clean-up of the 10th Concession and made a major haul!

The debris was made up mostly of building insulation, cardboard packaging, metal sheet siding and plastic sheeting … to the tune of 350 lbs!

It is obvious that developers, contractors and trades people must be part of the solution. Perhaps fines or a mandatory “Environmental Clean Up” fee should be added to any building permit applications, the proceeds from which could provide employment for someone to do the clean-up following this irresponsible littering.
