Lions host Touch-a-Truck – a popular event for the young and young-at-heart

Port Elgin Lions Club held a large ‘touch-a-truck’ event at the Plex on Saturday, August 12, 2022.

The Plex parking lot was filled with heavy equipment, fire trucks, police vehicle and ambulance all which youngsters were thrilled to be able to clamber aboard and test out horns and sirens.

 

The Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre was there as part of its Community Outreach Program and where the youngsters could create boats out of cork and, with the marine theme, Ariel the mermaid was also there.

There was a long line-up at the the Bruce Shrine Club’s booth as clowns Woody and Chip entertained by twisting balloons into a wide variety of shapes.

“This is the first touch-a-truck event we have held asking for donations,” said Lion Christine Mensher.  “We wanted this to be a fun event just for fun’s sake.  Any donations we receive will go to future community events.”

One one of the biggest hits but no surprise was the arrival of ‘Batman in the Batmobile’. He leapt from his batmobile to ooos and aahs of the crowd who had gathered around anxioualy waiting to have their photos taken with him.
