Local Lifesaving Club continues to put Saugeen Shores on the global stage

Eighteen athletes from the Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club (SSLC) traveled to Nova Scotia to compete in the 2025 Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships.

Originally scheduled for another location, the event was relocated at the last minute due to Hurricane Erin. Despite the disruption, SSLC athletes adapted quickly and delivered strong performances across a range of events.

Day 1 Highlights

Surf Ski

  • Men 15–18: Hayden Kaake (1st), Cole Kaake (2nd), Anderson Haugh (3rd), Reid Kaake (4th), Finn Woolley (5th), Emmanuel Zaki (6th), Kelvin Gotschalk (8th), Ethan Hodgeson (10th), Rowan Woolley (14th)

SSLC athletes were in high gear for the premier event of the championship, including:

  • Oceanman/Oceanwoman
  • 2 km Beach Run
  • Ocean Relay – featuring teams of two men and two women
