With the street littered with debris and several vehicles that all appear to be totalled, downtown Port Elgin looked like the scene out of a movie on Saturday afternoon, February 21st.

One of the busiest intersections in Port Elgin, at Gustavus and Goderich Streets, was closed for several hours following what appeared to be not one but two or more collisions.
Saugeen Shores Police, Fire and EMS services were all on scene along with OPP.
A Nissan truck was heavily damaged in the intersection, while two other vehicles on Gustavus Street had their complete front ends destroyed along with the rear of a parked SUV.
A person in the truck was subsequently transported to hospital by EMS with undetermined injuried.

Several bystanders who had been shopping in the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Gustavus St. said they heard what sounded like a huge explosion as they came running outside.
According to sources, the driver of a black vehicle collided with a dumpster and then a parked blue Nissan car, totalling both vehicles. The black vehicle was allegedly stolen earlier in the day, following a reported robbery attempt in Paisley, and the driver then fled the scene on foot.
