Marine Heritage Festival – the Launch

Celebrating 14 years, the Marine Heritage Festival is one of Summer’s highlight events in Southampton (Saugeen Shores), Bruce County.

The three-day free fun-filled family weekend has grown each year with this year, 2025, exceeding all expectations for attendance as visitors came from far and wide to take it all in.

Museum Launch

The fun began with the ‘launch’ at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre on Friday, July 25th, with performances and activities for all ages.

Inside, Richard Knechtel (aka Dicki Bird) entertained in the Bruce Power Theatre with humour, music and magic while the annual Kids Bike Race was held at adjacent Fairy Lake

Out on the patio, weekend opening ceremonies were held and it was corn roast and BBQ time hosted by the Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores.

Saugeen Shores Mayor and Warden of Bruce County, Luke Charbonneau, welcomed visitors and said that the Marine Heritage Society plays a intergral role in the community.

New this year was the historic walk around Fairy Lake where players performed as historic Southampton early pioneers and explained the historic significant highlights of Southampton history.
