Mark your Calendar: Southampton Rotary hosting Shred-n-Go

Southampton Rotary Club is excited to announce a brand new environmentally friendly “drive-through” shredding event on Saturday, September 18th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Rotary Hall, 39 Grey Street South, Southampton on a “first come, first served” basis.

The Club is partnering with Wasteco to bring two paper shredding trucks to Southampton to shred personal, confidential and financially sensitive documents onsite. The waste will then be used in recycled paper products.

The aim of this event is to:

· provide a service to the community
· raise awareness of re-cycling and care for the environment
· raise awareness of the risks of identity theft

One of Rotary International’s Areas of Focus is the environment, so this is the Southampton Club’s way of focusing on this crucial issue and is in addition to their annual Road, Perkins Park and Beach clean ups.

The shredding trucks will be located at the rear car park of Rotary Hall. Please see the road map below for the best way to access the car park. Signs will also be in place to direct you.

Southampton Rotary is very appreciative that the Cooperators in Port Elgin, Don Amy, from Wilfred McIntee & Co Ltd. Brokerage Southampton, RBC Meeting Place Port Elgin, and Susan J. Dollar Law, Southampton have already jumped on board to sponsor the event and help cover some of the costs.  Any proceeds will go to Rotary’s causes, including the maintenance of Rotary Perkins Park.

Rotary has also partnered with the Southport Horticultural Society and will be offering a free white pine tree seedling to the first 250 attendees to plant, another way to care for the environment.

Event Chair, Rotarian Dave Lennon said “We are delighted to bring this much needed confidential service to our Town, which is good for the environment and helps reduce identity theft. We are looking forward to having a fun event where we all can have ripping good time!”
