‘My Friend Pink Bear’ series of books is an empowering celebration of kindness and friendship. While the books are for young readers, they will touch the hearts of all ages.

In each of the books, created by Author, Catherine Swartz and illustrated by her daughter Alexandria, young Jimmy and his little ‘furry friend’ Pink Bear come up against subjects that many children struggle with, such as loneliness, fear of the dark, bullying, battling cancer … and more.

‘My Friend Pink Bear in the Dark’ looks at the fear that some children have of being in the dark … a time when imagination can conjure up all kinds of strange things.
With the help of his big brother, Michael, Jimmy and his little stuffed companion, Pink Bear, overcome their fear of the dark … in a very unique way.
The first in the series, the book is now available online at Indigo Books and at the Yonge and Eglinton Indigo store in Toronto, and on Amazon.

In the just-released second book of the series, ‘My Friend Pink Bear in the Hospital’, author Catherine Swartz tackles the difficult subject of childhood cancer, but in a very tender way – one that a child can understand, and that is moving for the reader.
It is a heartwarming, touching story of selfless friendship and kindness.

Each of the books is a keepsake, in a hard cover 8.5″ x 10″ format with beautiful full-page illustrations by Alexandria Swartz.
Swartz is an award-winning artist from Port Elgin whose first book, ‘My Best Friend Papa’, had an illustration nominated for a Canadian stamp.
To ensure the quality of the series is retained throughout, Swartz and her daughter decided to establish their own publishing company, A.C. Crown Publishing House Ltd.. “We wanted these stories with their artwork to have a life of their own and each illustration to be meaningful. By having our own publishing company to oversee the process, we know that is what will happen,” says Catherine Swartz.
The author, Catherine Swartz, will be at the Owen Sound North Grey Union Public Library (OSNGUPL) Book Fair on Friday, October 18th and October 19th from 1:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. (824 1st. Ave W.).
“I am so looking forward to being at the Book Fair and meeting everyone,” says Swartz, “and I know Jimmy and Pink Bear are too!”
