Construction of the new Rogers wireless communication tower is now underway and is expected to enhance wireless communication services in Saugeen Shores.

In December, 2021, Rogers Communications proposed to install a cell tower at 582 Hepner Court (Hwy. 21 and County Road 13) on property owned by Michael and Lorelei Hill of Southampton.

Rogers was required to lead the consultation process and inform the Town of its requirements.

Following the consultation on the proposed telecommunications tower, Rogers Communications was required to affirm with the town that they were following applicable consultation protocols.

Committee of the Whole on Monday, April 25th (2022) recommended that the wireless communication installation (tower) was fully compliant with the Town’s opinion and with the requirements of the ISED Canada’s default protocol issued on July 5, 2014,  “Radiocommunication and Broadcasting Systems” and that all obligations for the municipal and public consultation requirements had been satisfactorily met and, therefore, could be constructed.  The proposed tower type and height were changed from a 29m lattice tripole to a 29m slimline monopole.
