Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has made two second quarter (July 1 – September 30) payments to the Town of Hanover and the Township of Centre Wellington.
The Town of Hanover, host to Playtime Casino Hanover, received $380,632 and so far this year, $742,350. Since the gaming site opened in February 2001, Hanover has received $20,839,665.
The Township of Centre Wellington, host of Elements Casino Grand River, received a payment of $809,714. So far, during OLG’s fiscal year (April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023), Centre Wellington has received $1,615,484. Since the gaming site opened in December 2003, Centre Wellington has received $37,715,818.
These payments to host communities are based on a formula consistently applied across all gaming sites in Ontario using a graduated scale of gaming revenue at the hosted site.
“Revenue from OLG’s Municipality Contribution Agreements supports host communities so they can invest in programs and services that benefit everyone, from neighbourhood parks to local festivals,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, Minister of Finance. “These payments help to improve the quality of life and make Ontario a vibrant and exciting place to live, work and play.”
OLG is proud to share proceeds of casino gaming with local communities, contributing to economic recovery, infrastructure development and job creation. Payments to host communities are part of OLG’s commitment to Ontario – 100 per cent of OLG’s profits are reinvested in the province.
Over the past seven years, service providers have invested an estimated $1.8 billion in private sector capital investment across the province. Since 2017, these investments have led to the development and opening of six new casinos, with one under construction, one planned development and additional gaming expansions.
Since 1994, host communities have received almost $1.9 billion in non-tax gaming revenue.
