Olympians Homan and Jacobs in The Battle – September 2026

In what many experts in the curling world are calling “One of the biggest events in the history of the sport in Canada”, THE BATTLE – THE ULTIMATE CHALLENGE is coming to the Plex in Port Elgin. Sponsored by Bruce Power and Presented by Holiday Inn Express and Suites.

The three-day event will be held September 25, 26, and 27 of 2026 but is actually two events in one.

The first event is The Battle featuring the teams that will represent Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina, Italy. Team Rachel Homan and Team Brad Jacobs. Friday evening September 25 will be doubles curling. Saturday evening September 26 its Skins Curling. Then the final on Sunday afternoon September 26 is regular curling with a few twists thrown in for fun. Full event passes are on sale now for the earlybird price of just $129 plus applicable taxes. Available online only at www.portelgincurlingclub.com. Only full event tickets are on sale now.

The second event is a one-of-a-kind Curling Camp. Limited to 80 campers, curlers of all experience levels will have the opportunity for on ice and off ice instruction from some of the top instructors in the country, and of course members of both Team Homan and Team Jacobs. Packages include the curling camp, passes to all Battle games, some meals and beverages, commemorative clothing, and special accommodation deals from Holiday Inn Express and Suites. It is one of the most unique curling camps ever held as participants will experience arena ice, just like they see on television.

Camp registrations can also be made online at www.portelgincurlingclub.com.

The purpose is to assist multiple curling clubs in Grey Bruce with fundraising to ensure the continuation of the sport in the area. Any one week passes purchased that are credited to an area curling club will benefit that club to the tune of $25 per ticket. Plus, area curling clubs can sell sponsorship for the event which in turn will get that a portion of the overall profit of the event.
