The Parish hall at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church was filled to capacity on Sunday, June 15th (2025) as parishioners gathered in tribute to Father Francisco Sordo who has been re-assigned and will be leaving at the end of June.

Father Sordo, who oversaw both St. Joseph’s Church in Port Elgin and St. Paul’s in Southampton, assumed the role of Paris Priest in 2022 only five years in the priesthood after being ordained on August 15, 2020.
Prior to answering a call to the priesthood late in life, he achieved high academic standards with a degree in Engineering, an MBA and a Certified Financial Officer (CTP) designation and held very successful positions within the Corporate World for the past 30 years.
Parishioners from both churches in Saugeen Shores gave numerous testimonials and heartfelt expressions of gratitude to Father Sordo. Despite writing letters to the Bishop in a attempt to dissuade him from re-appointing Father Sordo, the die had been cast and he is off to be Pastor of St. Paul the Apostle in Burlington … a bigger Parish and a bigger challenge.
Now, the parishioners await their new Priest for Saugeen Shores.
